Unique piece
Graphic work by the artist Petites Luxures aka Simon Frankart in collaboration with The Woods.
Unique hand-painted artwork on a vintage Herman Miller edition fiberglass rocking chair from the 70s, in excellent vintage condition.
The Rocking Chair also called Armchair RAR (for Rocking Armchair Rod base) was created by the Eames in 1948 using polyester resin reinforced with fiberglass to create a one-piece shell.
This rocking chair was presented for the first time in 1950 during the “Low Cost Furniture Design” competition at MoMA in New York. It met with great success and was originally published by the Herman Miller company until the end of the 1970s.
Alongside Herman Miller production based in the United States, Vitra has been producing polypropylene models in Europe since 1972.
The armchair is also available in a version with legs. There are two different bases: the DAR model (chromed aluminum base) and the DAW model (wooden legs).

Simon Frankart began by studying applied arts in Paris. For 17 years, he worked as a graphic designer then artistic director in digital communication and advertising.
Having never stopped drawing, he launched the Petites Luxures project somewhat by chance in 2014. With a desire to keep a simple, almost minimal line, and a sincerity that is always more important than the technicality of his sometimes almost naive drawings, he attempts to bring a touch of freshness, humor and lightness to eroticism. Thus, he tries to take it out of his usual distribution channels.
His work gradually gained popularity thanks to Instagram, where he now has 1.3 million followers with his black, suggestive, erotic and humorous line drawings. Since the start of its project, Petites Luxures has collaborated with numerous brands to create skateboards, lingerie, ceramics and sneakers.
Learn more about this designer
Charles and Ray Eames are a couple of emblematic designers of the 20th century. Very ahead of their time, they contributed to the democratization of designer furniture for the general public, in particular thanks to the invention of new industrial manufacturing techniques allowing mass production.
We owe them many emblematic design pieces from the 1950s and 60s combining comfort and ergonomics: the famous Lounge Chair, the DCW chair (Dining Chair Wood) or the armchair RAR (Rocking Armchair Rodbase).
Learn more about the brand
Herman Miller Inc. is an American office furniture and equipment company based in Zeeland, Michigan.
Created in 1905, the original company called Michigan Star Furniture was taken over in 1923 by one of its employees: DJ De Pree.
The company took the name of the man who helped him acquire it, Herman Miller, his father-in-law, a West Michigan businessman.
By the mid-20th century, the name Herman Miller became synonymous with "modern" furniture. Surrounding itself with designers such as George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames, the company produced creations that became great classics of industrial design.
We also include the names of Alvar Aalto, Don Chadwick, Alexander Girard, Paul Lázsló, Isamu Noguchi, Robert Probst, Gilbert Rohde, Gloria Sachs, Don Shepard, Bill Stumpf etc… among the designers who worked for Herman Miller.
