A true pioneer in democratic design, Philippe Starck quickly achieved success and made himself a famous name throughout the world in the 1980s.
Indeed, the year 1983 will mark the great boom in Philippe Starck's notoriety, in the eyes of the general public. François Mitterrand, then president, chose it to decorate the private apartments of the Élysée. This decision promotes design as an art in its own right, and propels Philippe Starck to international fame.
