Arne Jacobsen is one of the most important designers in Scandinavian design such as Alvar Aalto and Verner Panton.
Graduating in architecture in 1927, he decided to become self-employed after working for a while in an architectural firm.
His greatest architectural works are the Bellavista Klampenborg (1930-1934), the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen (1958-1960) and St Catherine College in Oxford (1964-1966).
In terms of design, Arne Jacobsen strongly influenced the functionalist movement: his creations combine utility with simple and elegant forms.

Arne Jacobsen had a strong impact on 20th century design and laid the foundations for Scandinavian organic modernism. Using natural materials such as wood, leather and hemp, Arne Jacobsen designs products that improve everyday life. He also wants to facilitate use and make these objects comfortable for the user. The “Ant chair”, one of his most famous creations, inspires minimalism, comfort, durability, reliability and lightness of the product.
