Flos “265” wall lamp: The Iconic Homage to Colors

The "265" wall lamp was created in 1973 by the architect and designer Paolo Rizzatto. Its perfectly functionalist appearance, its strictly formal humility gives an impression of aesthetic neutrality. Having become a design classic, this industrial design wall light has continued to stand the test of time!

The "265" lamp is made up of a head and a weight, each balanced at the ends of an adjustable arm, fixed to the wall. For Paolo Rizzato, the objective of this object is to ''Contribute to improving the human experience of an architectural space''. He defines his approach as belonging to the field of architecture: ''As an architect, I work with the concept of composition: everything I design is made up of several parts, my work consists of identifying each of the elements of a project and put them together in a harmonious and logical way.''

Learn more about the designers

Born in 1941 in Milan in the city of design, Paolo Rizzatto obtained his architecture degree from the Polytechnic of Milan in 1965. He then discovered a true passion for lighting design, which thus made everything his success. His engineering precision, his work with metal and his innovative approach to lighting have made him a very renowned designer, considered one of the greatest of his century in terms of lighting.

Rizzatto's style can be described as hybrid, it has inspired very opposing movements ranging from classical Italian design to the emerging Scandinavian modernist movement. Very renowned, he has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Compas d'Or three times. The 267 lamp, which he designed in 1969, is certainly the lighting fixture that made him known.
