Founding member of the Memphis movement, George Sowden created an event during Milan Design Week 2022 by presenting Shades, his silicone lighting fixtures released under the SowdenLight label. George Sowden discovered the light-diffusing potential of flexible silicone while working on another project and decided to explore the possibilities of this high-potential material for making lighting fixtures. I With his team, they imagined eighteen shapes in twenty colored variations which combine to create table lamps, pendant lights and floor lamps. Thanks to its silicone manufacturing and its colors, this lamp diffuses a warm and comforting light.
The PL1 portable range is a range of rechargeable battery lamps made from silicone lampshades, an extruded aluminum bracket and an LED light source.
These fixtures are intended for indoor use. The brightness of the LED light source is adjustable to suit the desired use. Battery life is 4 to 10 hours, depending on brightness level. To recharge llama, it takes about 3 hours. A USB cable is provided to charge the battery, the lamp can be used for an indefinite period when connected to a USB port.

George Sowden was born in Leeds, United Kingdom.
In 1970 he moved to Milan where he opened his own design and product development studio in 1979. In 1981 he was one of the founding members of Memphis. In 2010, he founded SOWDEN, his own brand.
He has worked as a designer and product developer for numerous companies around the world. He cultivated a personal interest in craft work and small industries. His work related to patterns and decoration dates back to the 1970s and continues today.

DELIVERY TIME
Products in stock, shipped via La Poste Colissimo or GLS, are sent within 48 hours (working days). Your order is delivered to your home within 2 to 5 working days for products in stock. A tracking number will be sent to you by email automatically. Larger products are shipped by specialized carrier. You will be contacted to set a time slot at your convenience. We also ensure international delivery of all our products by La Poste Colissimo, GLS or by specialized carrier.
IN-STORE COLLECTION
Products in stock, standard size, are available immediately after your order in our store THE WOODS GALLERY, 22 rue André del Sarte, 75018 Paris during opening hours (check on Google) Please show us your confirmation email when collecting.
Larger products must be collected by appointment. Please contact us to agree on the date and time by email: contact@the-woods.fr.
EXCHANGES AND RETURNS
The customer has a period of fourteen days to exercise his right of withdrawal and return at his own expense the products which do not give him satisfaction in accordance with article L.121-20 of the Consumer Code , The products must be returned in their original packaging, in resalable condition. Any product returned damaged will not be refunded. PLEASE NOTE: any "personalized" product (choice of fabric, color of wood, custom dimensions, etc.) cannot be refunded: the product is not in stock and is specially made by the manufacturer to the customer.
