Klaas Kuiken
Designer Klaas Kuiken reworks mass-produced green glass bottles by giving them new shapes. He blows them one by one to produce unique pieces. His project began with the question "Are there any irregularities in mass production?" and found its full meaning with these industrial bottles: when cutting the glass, the thickness of the wall increased. turned out to be different each time. To highlight these differences, he developed his own glass blowing technique, using a compressor and a furnace that he adapted himself. During the blowing process, the glass swells more where the wall thickness is thinner and less where it is thicker, which has the effect of creating a slight difference between each piece.
