Retrospective of Maurizio Cattelan's historic exhibition at the Guggenheim New York in an extraordinary box bringing together various elements. Photos by Pierpaolo Ferrari (The Dictator / Toilet Paper).

On the occasion of his retrospective exhibition at the Guggenheim New York at the end of 2011, Maurizio Cattelan stunned the art world by announcing his artistic retirement, declaring that he would henceforth devote himself to his editorial project Toilet Paper.
For this definitive exhibition, Cattelan chose, in a spectacular, joyful and irreverent gesture, to hang almost all of his works, including the most monumental, in the central space of the Guggenheim.
A way for the artist to complete the decontextualization project that he has been carrying out for more than twenty years by applying it to his own works: hanging from the ceiling of Frank Lloyd Wright's famous modernist rotunda, visible from the left rail empty, all the pieces appear at the same level, without hierarchy (the pope on par with the hanging horse, or with the giant cat skeleton...), thus forming a new unique work.

The Maurizio Has Left the Building box set documents the installation in a format tailored to its (dis)measure.
Bringing together color photographs (close-ups of the works and overall views) taken by Pierpaolo Ferrari – Cattelan's partner for Toilet Paper –, reproduced on large free pages, a series of drawings by Matteo Nuti and a text by Caroline Corbetta, this extraordinary publication reflects the multiple dimensions of this historic exhibition.

Published following the Maurizio Cattelan – All exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, from November 2011 to January 2012.

Contemporary art superstar, Maurizio Cattelan (born 1960 in Padua, Italy, lives and works in New York and Milan) is currently one of the most collected living artists.
Often described as an art world joker, considered a provocateur who, following the tradition of the avant-garde, regularly transgresses the established boundaries used to define the art system and culture. society in general, Cattelan hides, behind the mask of irony, existential strategies which mix the comic, the abject and the tragic, as well as a consistent criticism of the various forms of authority and power, carried by power visual of his work.
Maurizio Cattelan is the editor of the artist magazines Permanent Food, Charley and Toilet Paper.

EXCHANGES AND RETURNS

Any product returned damaged will not be refunded.
