Pier System 1050 modular shelving add-on unit by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec

The 1050 is an additional module: HAY calls it an "Add-on". It is not meant to stand alone: it is added to an existing Pier System composition, from which it borrows one upright. This explains its 80 cm width, whereas a complete column is 82 cm wide. Height 209 cm, depth 31.5 cm.

How the system is made

The Pier System is based on two parts: anodized aluminum uprights and powder-coated steel shelves that attach to them. HAY emphasizes the minimum number of components required for a complete storage system: this is what makes the assembly lightweight, flat-packable, and demountable. The elements can be adjusted in height, and configurations can be combined with one another.

Three steel colors—white, black, blue—and two upright finishes: natural anodized aluminum or black anodized. You can match or contrast: white steel on black uprights costs no more than white on natural.

This configuration includes a wire shelf, available in black powder-coated steel or chrome-plated steel. The chrome finish is a paid option: it is the second menu on this page.

Completing or modifying this configuration

All Pier System parts can be ordered separately and mounted on the same uprights: shelf, wire shelf, hanging rail shelf, worktop, coat rack, cabinet, upright, wall bracket, and mounting kit.

What HAY does not disclose

HAY does not publish the details of what each configuration contains: how many shelves, at what heights, with or without a cabinet. If this is a deciding factor for your purchase, write to us: we will have it confirmed by the brand before placing the order.
