Pier System 1000 modular shelving additional unit by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec

The 1000 is an additional module: HAY calls it an "Add-on." It is not designed to stand alone: it is meant to be added to an existing Pier System composition, from which it borrows one upright. This explains its 80 cm width, whereas a complete column is 82 cm wide. Height 209 cm, depth 34 cm.

How the system is made

The Pier System is based on two parts: anodized aluminum uprights and powder-coated steel shelves that attach to them. HAY emphasizes the minimum number of components required for a complete storage system: this is what makes the assembly lightweight, flat-packable, and easy to disassemble. The elements can be adjusted in height, and configurations can be combined with each other.

Three steel colors—white, black, blue—and two upright finishes: natural anodized aluminum or black anodized. You can match or contrast: white steel on black uprights costs no more than white on natural.

Completing or modifying this configuration

All Pier System parts can be ordered separately and mounted on the same uprights: shelf, wire shelf, hanging shelf, work surface, coat rack, cabinet, upright, wall bracket, and mounting kit.

What HAY does not publish
