Pavilion AV16 Desk by Anderssen & Voll

The AV16 applies the Pavilion grammar to a workspace: the same bent steel tube, in black or chrome, supports a 130 × 65 cm Forbo linoleum tabletop on MDF, with edges finished in lacquered wood. Linoleum is a material that is warm to the touch and matte to the eye, which does not reflect light from screens. Multiple desks can be aligned or assembled into an island.

Furniture designed for a specific location

Pavilion was not born from an abstract brief. &Tradition asked Anderssen & Voll to re-equip Copenhagen's Langelinie Pavillonen, a 1958 building by Eva and Niels Koppel that hosts banquets and seminars. Hence the constraints that shaped the series: stackable, easy to move, sturdy enough for intensive public use, and discreet enough not to compete with the architecture. The result consists of two materials, bent steel tubing and press-molded veneer, joined by visible hardware.
