The Pavilion is a contract chair that doesn't look like a contract chair. Two bent steel tubes form the base and extend upward into the backrest, with the press-molded veneer shell attached via exposed fittings, and the entire piece stacks without scratching thanks to an injected plastic tray under the seat. Three versions are available here: bare shell, upholstered seat, or upholstered seat and backrest. The specific color of the upholstery is selected on our Fabrics and Materials page and confirmed before production begins.
Furniture designed for a specific space
The Pavilion was not born from an abstract set of requirements. &Tradition commissioned Anderssen & Voll to re-equip the Langelinie Pavilion in Copenhagen, a 1958 building designed by Eva and Niels Koppel that hosts banquets and seminars. Hence the constraints that shaped the series: stackable, light to move, sturdy enough for intensive contract use, and discreet enough not to compete with the architecture. The result consists of two materials, bent steel tubing and press-molded veneer, assembled with visible fittings.
Three levels of upholstery, one single product sheet
The models are distinguished solely by their upholstery: AV1 bare shell (lacquered veneer seat and back), AV3 upholstered seat and wooden back, AV12 upholstered seat and back. Fully upholstered versions are not available in leather. Plastic glides are fitted as standard; felt glides and brass fittings are available upon request at no extra charge.
