The CPH 20 is the small round table in the series. At Ø 90 cm, four place settings fit comfortably; at Ø 120 cm, you can seat six. The four solid oak legs, finished with water-based lacquer, are set back from the edge and splay slightly outwards: no one has a table leg in their way, and the table appears lighter than it actually is. Height 73 cm.
Round shapes change the conversation, everyone can see each other, and it saves space in a room where a rectangular table would require wider circulation areas at the corners. Nine combinations of base and tabletop are offered, each curated by HAY: the edge of the tabletop is always lacquered to match the base.
Three tabletop materials, three uses
Linoleum is not vinyl: it is oxidized linseed oil mixed with wood flour and resin, pressed onto a jute backing. It is matte, warm to the touch, does not reflect light from overhead lamps, and absorbs the sound of a plate being set down. However, it will show marks if you cut on it. Laminate is the opposite: a hard, sealed surface that is resistant to water and the heat of a dish, and more reflective. Finally, water-based lacquered wood veneer leaves the grain visible and ages like wood: it is the most beautiful and the most delicate of the three.
In all cases, the edge of the tabletop is lacquered to match the base: this is what gives the table its continuous line when viewed from the side.
