Resist Sister neon sign by Nico Vascellari

Codalunga x Seletti takes up Nico Vascellari's anagrams: a word and its reversal, mounted one above the other, to be read simultaneously. Dream becomes Merda, Resist becomes Sister. The concept stems from the neon lights the artist originally produced as unique pieces; Seletti has mass-produced them and applied them to various media: the wall-mounted LED sign, the round MDF-framed mirror, and the rubber hot water bottle. The word remains constant from one object to the next: it is the medium that changes, and with it the usage, from wall to sofa. The signs measure 52 × 38 cm and come with their own transformer: these are wall pieces, requiring a nearby power outlet and clear wall space, not accent lights. What the publisher provides regarding power varies from one sign to another: the values, when they exist, are listed in the specifications for each item.

Where the design comes from

Codalunga is the name of the workshop opened in 2003 by Nico Vascellari in Vittorio Veneto, in the Veneto region: the public-facing part of his studio, where exhibitions and performances are held. Dream/Merda was launched in 2018 and circulated widely before being produced by Seletti, alongside Resist/Sister and Santa/Satan. The originals were glass neon lights in very limited numbers; the Seletti edition converts them into LED versions with a wide print run.
