Vilhelm Lauritzen

Vilhelm Lauritzen (1894-1984) was a Danish architect and a key figure in functionalism. After graduating from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1921, he went on to found his own firm. His notable works include the first terminal at Copenhagen Airport (1939), the Radiohuset building in Frederiksberg (1945), and Folkets Hus, now known as Vega (1956). For the Radiohuset, he worked with Louis Poulsen to design all the lighting, including the VL45 Radiohus pendant, which was designed in the late 1930s and is still produced by Louis Poulsen today.
