Uto Balmoral

Uto Balmoral is not a legal name but a character: Seletti introduces him as "a character provocatively created to be a product himself," a project led by a designer who does not reveal his identity. He has been working from Milan and made his first public appearance in 2011, during Milan Design Week, with the exhibition "Maybe/Forse" at the DAAL Gallery, where he showcased the Unstables tables and the lighting series The Putrella's Connection. His philosophy is summed up in a sentence used by the publisher: "I don't believe in design, I believe in ideas" — where objects are primarily messages. He designs furniture, lighting, and accessories for Seletti, Mogg, Tonelli Design, Officinanove, and Sturm Milano. No date of birth, educational background, or real name have been released to date.
