Kintsugi is the Japanese technique of repairing broken ceramics by highlighting the break with a gold pour, rather than hiding it. Marcantonio has turned this into a collection for Seletti: the white porcelain is traversed by veins of gold that trace imaginary fractures; the object was never broken, it is molded this way.
The network of veins changes from one reference to another. Three designs coexist, numbered No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3, so that two pieces placed side by side do not feature the same fracture. The collection covers a complete tableware set—plates, bowls, cups, mugs, glasses, teapot, carafe, tray—and extends to decorative pieces: a skull, a piggy bank, a lucky horn, two vases, and a lamp.
The manufacturer labels most tableware pieces as "dishwasher safe": plates, bowls, mugs, glasses, and the tray. It does not label the carafe, the teapot, the tea sets, or the vases as such. The cutlery is made of steel and the lampshade is a lighting fixture, both of which are special cases.
