Organic percale cotton

Fineline is woven from 100% organic percale cotton, a tight weave that creates a fabric that is cool to the touch and has a “freshly ironed” look. The yarn is dyed before weaving (yarn-dyed), which deepens the color and makes it more durable over time than fabric printed afterward. The fine stripes that give the series its name come from this construction.

The design

The Fineline series is not attributed to any outside designer: HAY signs it with its own name, and its product page carries no authorship credit. This is a common occurrence with this brand, which collaborates with independent designers for part of its catalog and designs the rest itself. What defines the piece here is the weave: a cotton percale, dry and cool to the hand, with threads that are dyed before weaving; this is what supports its colors.
