The Enigma 425 was designed by Japanese designer Shoichi Uchiyama in 2003. Uchiyama had presented Louis Poulsen with a design idea deconstructing the concept of the traditional chandelier into thin layers of concentric circles. This concept incorporated floating lampshades held by very fine wires, expressing both transparency and lightness. The name “enigma” referred to the fact that the lampshades seem to hover when seen from a distance, illuminated. It turned out that this idea was entirely in line with Louis Poulsen's product philosophy and presented itself as a reinterpretation of the lampshade assembly: Japanese grace combined with Scandinavian simplicity. In 2018, the original aluminum version was supplemented with a black edition, expanding the decorative possibilities of the design and creating a serene visual and atmospheric effect, as it shapes and channels light.

Shoichi Uchiyama was born and raised in Tokyo. Since the founding of the Shoichi Uchiyama design firm in 1977, he has been engaged in creating luminaires with anti-glare indirect lighting to beautify objects, and make people feel the textures and depth of objects. He seeks quality lighting by designing lighting fixtures, and devotes himself to creating superb indirect lighting effects in space.

Any product returned damaged will not be refunded.
