“A practical lid that fits onto HAY's Colour Crates, allowing you to neatly conceal their contents, whether used individually or on top of a stack.”: HAY. It is molded from the same recycled polypropylene as the crate, in the same colors, and simply rests on top.
Six sizes, matching those of the crates: S, M, L, XL, Square L, and a lid common to the Square M crate and the cube, which share the same footprint. One lid closes a crate used individually; when stacked, it closes the top one and serves as a tray. Choose the size of your crate from the menu, then the color: the same one or a different one.
The six sizes

-
L: 54.5 × 35.5 × H 1.5 cm
-
XL: 68.5 × 42.5 × H 1.5 cm
-

Recycled, perforated, stackable plastic
All plastic crates and lids in the series are molded from 100% recycled polypropylene: HAY specifies 100% recycled post-consumer plastic, meaning plastic from household waste collection, not factory scraps. The perforated walls make the crate lightweight, allow the contents to be seen, and serve as handles. The crates “stack on top of each other regardless of size,” can be stored on a shelf, table, or in a cupboard, and “fold flat when not in use.”
The colors
16 colors: off-white, grey, warm grey, anthracite, light yellow, red, bordeaux, blush, powder pink, lavender, mint, sage green, dark green, soft blue, greyish blue, electric blue. Each item has its own visual in the gallery above; not all sizes are available in all colors: the menu only offers combinations that are manufactured.
The design
The Colour Crate series is not attributed to any external designer: HAY signs it with its own name, and its product page carries no author credit. This is common for this publisher, which works with independent designers for part of its catalog and designs the rest itself. What makes the piece here is its manufacturing: HAY states it is made of 100% post-consumer recycled plastic, is stackable, foldable, and designed for everyday use.
