The hot-dip galvanized base X-Line retains the original 1977 design with a hot-dip galvanized steel base, the most raw and durable finish for outdoor use, in a matte silver-grey, and a lacquered steel shell (seat-backrest) available in eight shades.
Galvanized base, lacquered shell
The base is made of hot-dip galvanized steel: a thick treatment, designed for outdoor use, which resists corrosion without further maintenance. The shell is made of lacquered steel in the chosen color. Standard glides under the feet. Like the entire series, the chair is stackable.
The X-Line, a classic relaunched by HAY
Designed in 1977 by Niels Jørgen Haugesen, the X-Line has remained a discreet classic of Danish design, produced for decades by the manufacturer Magnus Olesen. HAY acquired the distribution and production rights and is relaunching the chair in collaboration with the Haugesen family: new colors and new base finishes, while maintaining the original design. "Originally designed by Niels Jørgen Haugesen in the late '70s, the X-Line Chair has joined HAY's universe of timeless, original designs," writes HAY. The construction remains faithful to the spirit of the model: a high-precision steel wire, bent into an X, which makes the chair simultaneously solid, light, and stackable, and which reduces the amount of material to the strict minimum.
