The X-Line with chrome base, the "Indoor" version of the series, combines a chrome-plated steel base with a shell available in nine finishes: eight lacquered shades, plus the original all-chrome version, including seat and backrest.
Chrome-plated steel, for interiors
The base is made of shiny chrome-plated steel, reserved for indoor use (HAY classifies it as "Indoor"). The shell follows either the same chrome finish for an all-metal look, or one of the series' eight lacquered colors. Standard gliders, stackable chair.
The X-Line, a classic relaunched by HAY
Designed in 1977 by Niels Jørgen Haugesen, the X-Line has remained a subtle classic of Danish design, produced for decades by the manufacturer Magnus Olesen. HAY acquired the distribution and production rights and is relaunching the chair in collaboration with the Haugesen family: new colors and new base finishes, while maintaining the original design. "Originally designed by Niels Jørgen Haugesen in the late '70s, the X-Line Chair has joined HAY's universe of timeless, original designs," writes HAY. The construction remains faithful to the spirit of the model: a high-precision steel wire, bent into an X-shape, which makes the chair simultaneously solid, lightweight, and stackable; and which reduces the amount of material to the absolute minimum.
