The X-Line with a powder-coated steel frame is the monochrome version of the series: the frame is coated in the same color as the shell, creating a seamless, uniform chair. It is also the most accessible version in the range, available in eight shades.
A single color, from frame to shell
Unlike the other two versions of the X-Line, here the frame and the shell are coated in the same steel hue: the contrast between the metal frame and the colored seat disappears in favor of an entirely monochrome object. Standard gliders, stackable chair.
The X-Line, a classic relaunched by HAY
Designed in 1977 by Niels Jørgen Haugesen, the X-Line has remained a discreet classic of Danish design, produced for decades by the manufacturer Magnus Olesen. HAY acquired the distribution and production rights and is relaunching the chair in collaboration with the Haugesen family: new colors and new frame finishes, while preserving the original design. "Originally designed by Niels Jørgen Haugesen in the late '70s, the X-Line Chair has joined HAY's universe of timeless, original designs," writes HAY. The construction remains faithful to the spirit of the original model: a high-precision steel wire, folded into an X, which makes the chair simultaneously sturdy, lightweight, and stackable—reducing the amount of material to the strict minimum.
