Memorabilia Mvsevm treats pieces of classical statuary like museum exhibits: a man's hand and a woman's hand, a man's foot and a woman's foot, a mouth, an ear, a nose, an eye, a sex, two heads, and two wings, detached from a whole that does not exist. The body fragments are cast in porcelain left white and smooth, without decoration, so that only the modeling is visible; the two wings, much larger, are made of fiberglass. Sizes range from about fifteen centimeters for the smallest fragments to eighty centimeters long for a wing, which allows for both an isolated piece on a shelf and the grouping of several pieces on the same surface. None have a practical use: these are sculptures, not containers.
Two materials, two scales
The publisher names two materials in the series: porcelain for all body fragments, including the two heads, and fiberglass for the two 80 cm long wings. The heads are not anonymous: the publisher links them to Myron's Discobolus and John Gibson's Nymph, and presents the two white wings as an evocation of Cupid and Psyche. No maintenance instructions are published for this collection.
