Colour Crate

“Designed to go with HAY’s Colour Crates, the Colour Crate casters elevate the crate, making it easy to move and adding functionality and storage possibilities,” says HAY. They snap into the crate, what HAY calls a push-in design, without the need for tools; two of the four casters feature a brake.

The set of 4 is available in two models, for the Size M crate or the Size L crate, in grey only. A Size L crate on casters makes for mobile storage under a desk or at the foot of a bed; a stack of crates resting on the bottom one moves as a single unit. HAY does not specify compatibility for other sizes.

• One caster: H 9 × 3 × 6.5 cm (HAY dimensions).

The design

The Colour Crate series is not attributed to any external designer: HAY signs it with its own name and its product page carries no author credit. This is a common occurrence with this manufacturer, which calls on independent designers for part of its catalogue and designs the rest itself. What defines this piece is its manufacturing: HAY states it is made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic, is stackable, foldable, and intended for everyday use.
