Designed by Robin Day, RFH is a collection conceived in 1951 to furnish the Royal Festival Hall in London. &tradition has collaborated closely with the Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation to reissue iconic models for the first time in decades.

Boasting a soft and welcoming character, the RFH RD8 lounge chair is defined by its curved backrest and outward-folding armrests. This chair was radically different from anything else on the market at the time. Only a handful of the original Royal Festival Hall chairs remain today, with one of them part of the permanent collection at MoMA in New York. A very rare piece held in a private collection in northern England served as the model for the development of the reissue. The upholstered seat and the irregularly shaped back cushion of the RFH RD8 lounge chair, which add a layer of comfort, contribute to its contemporary aesthetic and are available in high-quality fabrics.

Robin Day

1915-2010 · Britannique
