HAY describes the AAC 127 as "a four-legged steel base with slim legs, with a sleek and elegant expression," which "retains the high backrest and generous seat characteristic of the series" on "a functional base with legs angled slightly outwards, for optimal stability." It is the largest chair in this set: 86 cm high, 62 cm wide, 59.5 cm deep.

The upholstered shell, and what the textiles are

The shell is the same as the bare-shell models, a molded recycled polypropylene, according to the HAY product sheet, but here it is fully upholstered. Foam is applied to the shell and then covered with the chosen upholstery: the contact is softer and sound is better dampened in busy rooms. In return, upholstery must be cleaned by dabbing, not by spraying.

The upholstery options offered here: Hallingdal 65, Kvadrat wool (70% wool, 30% viscose), the company's classic, very durable; Sense, HAY aniline leather dyed through: it shows the grain and develops a patina with use; Remix 3, Kvadrat heathered wool (92% wool, 8% nylon); Bolgheri, HAY fabric with a rich blend (viscose, wool, polyamide, silk, linen); Sierra, Ca-Mo protected leather with a pigmented finish, uniform and easy to live with; Linara, Romo cotton and linen fabric (63% / 37%), with a matte appearance. The so-called quilted variants: HAY uses the term quilted: they feature stitching that compartments the padding: the upholstery does not shift over time, and the relief breaks up the flat surface.

The base: powder-coated steel tube

The base is made of bent steel tubing, black powder-coated: a kiln-baked powder that provides a thick, matte layer, which is more impact-resistant than liquid paint. HAY offers this model in other steel finishes; only black is offered here. Clean with soapy water, without abrasives.
