Safari Sofa from Archizoom

Design by Archizoom Associati

The Safari sofa features a unique, wave-inspired design, with a sculpted backrest reminiscent of tribal rituals. Composed of four flexible pieces, it was first produced in 1968 by Poltronova with an experimental fiberglass structure. Its leopard-print upholstery, chosen by Archizoom as a tribute to Claes Oldenburg, gives it an artistic touch. Present in prestigious museums and exhibited around the world, the Safari sofa combines timeless elegance with a captivating history. It is perfect for those who appreciate distinguished design and contemporary art.

The Poltronova brand

Founded in 1957, the Poltronova company was born from the meeting of Ettore Sottsass and Sergio Cammilli. At that time, many Italian manufacturing companies were passionate about the anti-design movement that was in the air.
But none would do so with as much passion as Poltronova.
Coming from an art background, Sergio Cammilli wanted to renovate the concept of living spaces and found an ideal ally in Sottsass, who became his artistic director from the very beginning.
Poltronova defines itself above all as a place for research and experimentation with materials, forms, and new languages.

Poltronova helped change the history of design and was propelled to the forefront of the international scene as one of the companies manufacturing the most avant-garde furniture in 20th-century Italy.
