Nathalie du Pasquier

Nathalie du Pasquier est une peintre, graphiste et designer française. Dans les années 1980, elle fonde avec d'autres designers comme Ettore Sottsass le mouvement Memphis. Au sein de ce mouvement, elle réalise de nombreuses pièces en tissu comme des tapis. Elle conçoit également des objets et des meubles ou encore des motifs pour les meubles des autres membres du mouvement. Son travail se caractérise par un graphisme marqué de ses voyages en Asie et en Afrique.

La maison

Memphis Milano

Memphis naît à Milan le soir du 11 décembre 1980, chez Ettore Sottsass, entouré notamment de Michele De Lucchi, Aldo Cibic, Matteo Thun, Marco Zanini et Martine Bedin. Le nom vient d'une chanson de Bob Dylan, Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again, qui passait ce soir-là. La première collection, 55 objets, est présentée le 18 septembre 1981 à la galerie Arc '74, avec les bibliothèques Carlton et Casablanca de Sottsass et la Super Lamp de Martine Bedin. Le groupe se dissout en 1988, et la société Memphis poursuit aujourd'hui l'édition de ces pièces depuis La Morra.
