Memorabilia Mvsevm treats pieces of classical statuary like museum artifacts: a man's hand and a woman's hand, a man's foot and a woman's foot, a mouth, an ear, a nose, an eye, a sex, two heads, and two wings, detached from a whole that does not exist. The body fragments are molded in porcelain left white and smooth, without decoration, so that only the modeling is visible; the two wings, much larger, are made of fiberglass. The sizes range from about fifteen centimeters for the smallest fragments to eighty centimeters long for a wing, which allows for either an isolated piece on a shelf or the grouping of several pieces on the same plane. None have any practical use: these are sculptures, not containers.
Two materials, two scales
The publisher names two materials in the series: porcelain for all body fragments, including the two heads, and fiberglass for the two 80 cm long wings. The heads are not anonymous: the publisher links them to Myron's Discobolus and John Gibson's Nymph, and presents the two white wings as an evocation of Cupid and Psyche. No maintenance instructions are published for this collection.
