Lire la suiteThe BIC Lamp is a BIC Cristal pen enlarged twelve times and transformed into a light fixture. The transparent hexagonal body is made of polycarbonate, the cap and the tip of high-density polyethylene: the same material families as the original pen, chosen so that the object retains its appearance. The ink is replaced by an LED tube housed in the body, which illuminates the entire length. Seletti presents it as a lamp to be placed on the floor, hung, or fixed to the wall or ceiling: it is the same product in all four cases, and the three-meter power cord, color-matched, offers the choice. Three shades reflect those of the pen: blue, black, and red. The manufacturer specifies the lamp for indoor use.
The BIC Cristal was designed in 1950; it was for its seventy-fifth anniversary that Seletti and BIC presented this lamp at Maison&Objet, in January 2026. Mario Paroli kept the exact proportions of the pen: the change in scale is enough to create the object, without redrawing anything at all.
