A founding member of the Memphis movement, George Sowden made a splash at Milan Design Week 2022 by presenting Shades, his silicone lighting collection produced under the SowdenLight label.
George Sowden discovered the light-diffusing potential of flexible silicone while working on another project and decided to explore the possibilities this high-potential material offered for manufacturing light fixtures. I
Together with his team, they conceived eighteen shapes in twenty color variations that combine to create table lamps, pendant lights, and floor lamps.
Thanks to its silicone construction and colors, this lamp diffuses a warm and comforting light.
The TL2 portable range is a line of rechargeable battery-powered lamps made from silicone shades, an extruded aluminum base, and an LED light source.
These light fixtures are intended for indoor use. The brightness of the LED light source is adjustable to suit the desired use. The battery life ranges from 4 to 10 hours, depending on the brightness level. It takes about 3 hours to recharge. A USB cable is provided for charging the battery; the lamp can be used indefinitely when connected to a USB port.
Made in England.
