A founding member of the Memphis movement, George Sowden made a splash at Milan Design Week 2022 by introducing Shades, his silicone lighting collection produced under the SowdenLight label.
George Sowden discovered the light-diffusing potential of soft silicone while working on another project and decided to explore the possibilities this high-potential material offered for manufacturing lighting fixtures. I
Together with his team, they conceived eighteen shapes in twenty color variations that can be combined to create table lamps, pendant lights, and floor lamps.
Thanks to its silicone construction and colors, this lamp diffuses a warm and comforting light.
The portable PL1 range is a series of rechargeable battery-powered lamps made with silicone shades, an extruded aluminum support, and an LED light source.
These light fixtures are intended for indoor use. The brightness of the LED light source is adjustable to suit the desired use. The battery life is 4 to 10 hours, depending on the brightness level. It takes approximately 3 hours to recharge. A USB cable is provided to charge the battery; the lamp can be used indefinitely when connected to a USB port.
Made in England.
