Description

The Ray floor lamp is an exceptional piece of luminous architecture designed by the talented designer Rodolfo Dordoni for Flos. Its distinctive characteristic lies in the architectural construction of its base, composed of thin welded steel tubes, which give the whole a remarkable simplicity, lightness, and elegance. The shade, in a very light grey, is entirely made of mouth-blown glass, offering a glossy finish that creates a harmonious balance with the airy structure. Furthermore, a dimmer allows for the adjustment of light intensity, offering flexibility in ambiance.

Le designer

Rodolfo Dordoni

Rodolfo Dordoni (1954-2023), né à Milan, y étudie l'architecture. Directeur artistique de Cappellini de 1979 à 1989, il occupe ensuite la même fonction chez Minotti de 1998 jusqu'à sa mort, et contribue largement à l'image internationale de la marque. Il dessine des collections de verre pour Artemide, du mobilier pour FontanaArte et des sièges pour Andreu World, et travaille avec Cassina, Flos, Kartell, Molteni&C, Poltrona Frau, Salvatori ou Venini. En 2005, il fonde avec Luca Zaniboni et Alessandro Acerbi l'agence Dordoni Architetti, consacrée à l'architecture, aux intérieurs résidentiels et commerciaux et à la scénographie d'exposition. Pour Kartell, il signe notamment la collection K-Wait, fauteuil et canapé.

La maison

Flos

Flos est fondée en 1962 à Merano par Dino Gavina et Cesare Cassina, avec Arturo Eisenkeil, qui importe des États-Unis une résine plastique projetée, le « cocoon ». Son nom, du latin « fleur », est choisi par Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. Dès 1962, Achille et Pier Giacomo Castiglioni dessinent pour la maison le lampadaire Arco, la lampe Taccia et le lampadaire Toio, avant que Tobia et Afra Scarpa ne rejoignent l'aventure. À partir de 1963, Sergio Gandini dirige l'entreprise, installée à Brescia.
