Rocking Chair Bright Yellow by Charles & Ray Eames

The Rocking Chair, also known as the RAR Armchair (for Rocking Armchair Rod base), was created by the Eameses in 1948, using fiberglass-reinforced polyester resin to create a single-piece shell.
This rocking chair was presented for the first time in 1950 at the MoMA’s “Low-Cost Furniture Design” competition in New York. It met with great success there and was originally produced by the Herman Miller company until the late 1970s.
Alongside Herman Miller’s U.S.-based production, Vitra has been producing polypropylene models in Europe since 1972.
The chair also exists in a version with legs. There are two different bases: the DAR model (chrome-plated aluminum base) and the DAW model (wooden legs).
