Avec un parcours créatif très personnel et varié, la scène architecturale italienne voit en Italo Rota (1953) l’une des figures contemporaines aux multiples talents les plus intéressantes. Sa carrière débute dans les années 70, d’abord au sein du cabinet de Franco Albini, puis dans celui de Vittorio Gregotti, période durant laquelle il travaille également sur la conception de l’université de Calabre.
