In Between bar stool SK9 by Sami Kallio

The interaction between positive and negative space is at the heart of the In Between stool, created by Sami Kallio for &Tradition. Its back and side panels provide shape and support. In Between features a very slightly sloped seat. Its dynamically angled legs provide balance to the forms, making it a contemporary design classic. In Between was created using two classic techniques: compression molding (which makes the material light and thin yet strong) and woodturning (a technique used to achieve more detail). The materials are beech and oak, both of which respond well to the techniques used. The production of In Between involves modern industrial manufacturing processes alongside some human hand-finishing; a harmony between innovation and tradition. In Between gives a nod to the past while bringing a modern, designer touch to this stool.
