Percale organic cotton

Fineline is woven from 100% organic percale cotton, a tight weave that results in a material that is cool to the touch with a "freshly ironed" look. The yarn is dyed before weaving (yarn-dyed), which deepens the color and makes it more durable over time than fabric printed after the fact. The fine stripes that give the series its name come from this construction.

The design

The Fineline series is not attributed to any outside designer: HAY signs it with its own name and its product page carries no author credit. This is common practice for the publisher, which calls on independent designers for part of its catalogue and designs the rest itself. What defines this piece is the weave: a cotton percale, dry and cool to the touch, with yarns dyed before weaving: this is what supports its colors.
