This chair is the result of the initial experiments carried out by Charles and Ray Eames starting in 1945 on plywood molding.
It was described as an "aesthetic triumph and technical ingenuity" by Eliot Noyes, director of the MoMA's industrial design department, in 1946.
Created through plywood molding, it was designed to provide optimal comfort to the greatest number of people. The Eameses studied the structure of the human body's bones in order to perfect their molding.
Modeled and tested hundreds of times, the final chair consists of two parts: the petal-shaped back and seat.
The LCW (Lounge Chair Wood) is produced by Herman Miller in the United States and under license by Vitra in Europe.
Thanks to the organic lines of the shells and the slightly flexible backrests, these lightweight and compact lounge chairs are extremely comfortable.
