Lire la suiteThe Tetris mirror takes a classic gilded frame and breaks it: the molding is cut into sections that shift laterally, like blocks that have slid against one another. The frame is not made of gilded wood, but of polyurethane molded onto a mirror, a technique that allows for the reproduction of a period molding without the weight or the price of carved wood. The shift is not purely decorative: it also cuts through the reflective surface, so that the reflection is broken at the same point as the frame. The publisher offers two versions, one vertical and one wider, under the names Tetris and Tetris 2.0. The piece mounts to the wall and has no built-in lighting.
The brand describes the gilded frame as “decomposed, giving rise to a surface with coplanar levels resulting from an impossible translation,” and seeks the illusion of a mirror in motion.
