Francis Small side table by Constance Guisset Ø 40

The border of a Francis is not a frame: it is a watercolor. Constance Guisset hand-painted two series of hues, digitally reworked to amplify the interplay of pigment transparency, then printed onto mirrors and captured within a glass lamination. The result evokes the oxidation of antique mirrors as much as a makeup palette: a deep gradient that dissolves toward the reflective center. Placed horizontally, the mirror reverses the logic of the reflection: it no longer mirrors the face but the ceiling, and the watercolor becomes a tabletop. A spun steel base gives the ensemble the stability that the lightness of the design does not suggest.
