Milo reinterprets the Venus de Milo and gives it a domestic purpose. The vase is a half-bust made of gilded porcelain, open at the top to hold stems; the umbrella stand is the same body, enlarged, molded in glossy white fiberglass, and hollowed out to the base. The drapery, the twist of the shoulders, and the broken arms of the antique statue are preserved as is: it is the function, not the form, that Studio Job shifts. Seletti includes both pieces in the Blow collection, for which they serve as the statuary component.

Why a Venus

Seletti presents the piece as "the statuary beauty of the Venus de Milo reinterpreted and enriched by the pop soul of Blow." The process is consistent for Studio Job: take an image that everyone recognizes, change not a single feature of it, and modify only its intended use.

Le designer

Studio Job
