Featuring two side openings, it can also be used as a wastebasket. Today, this product is made from a material derived from recycled industrial waste and features a soft-touch finish.

Le designer

Gino Colombini

Gino Colombini, né à Milan en 1915 et mort en 2011, se forme auprès de Franco Albini, avec qui il travaille de 1933 à 1952. Directeur technique de Kartell de 1953 à 1960, il transforme les objets ménagers grâce à l'injection plastique : batteur de tapis, presse-agrumes, bassines, passoires. Son travail est récompensé par cinq Compasso d'Oro consécutifs, de 1955 à 1960. Il dessine en 1965 pour Kartell un porte-parapluie rond en ABS, coiffé d'un cendrier en acier.

La maison

Kartell

Kartell est fondée en 1949 par Giulio Castelli et fabrique d'abord des accessoires automobiles. La maison fait entrer le plastique dans l'intérieur domestique et rend les objets du quotidien pratiques et colorés, notamment grâce au travail de l'architecte et designer Anna Castelli Ferrieri. En 1988, Claudio Luti, gendre du fondateur, reprend l'entreprise et fait appel à Philippe Starck, auteur de la chaise Louis Ghost, Ron Arad, Antonio Citterio, Patricia Urquiola ou Mario Bellini. Kartell indique avoir été, en 1999, la première entreprise au monde à produire du mobilier en polycarbonate. Son siège est à Noviglio, près de Milan.
