Rodolfo Dordoni

Le designer

Rodolfo Dordoni

Rodolfo Dordoni (1954-2023), né à Milan, y étudie l'architecture. Directeur artistique de Cappellini de 1979 à 1989, il occupe ensuite la même fonction chez Minotti de 1998 jusqu'à sa mort, et contribue largement à l'image internationale de la marque. Il dessine des collections de verre pour Artemide, du mobilier pour FontanaArte et des sièges pour Andreu World, et travaille avec Cassina, Flos, Kartell, Molteni&C, Poltrona Frau, Salvatori ou Venini. En 2005, il fonde avec Luca Zaniboni et Alessandro Acerbi l'agence Dordoni Architetti, consacrée à l'architecture, aux intérieurs résidentiels et commerciaux et à la scénographie d'exposition. Pour Kartell, il signe notamment la collection K-Wait, fauteuil et canapé.

La maison

Kartell

Kartell est fondée en 1949 par Giulio Castelli et fabrique d'abord des accessoires automobiles. La maison fait entrer le plastique dans l'intérieur domestique et rend les objets du quotidien pratiques et colorés, notamment grâce au travail de l'architecte et designer Anna Castelli Ferrieri. En 1988, Claudio Luti, gendre du fondateur, reprend l'entreprise et fait appel à Philippe Starck, auteur de la chaise Louis Ghost, Ron Arad, Antonio Citterio, Patricia Urquiola ou Mario Bellini. Kartell indique avoir été, en 1999, la première entreprise au monde à produire du mobilier en polycarbonate. Son siège est à Noviglio, près de Milan.
