The Woods Gallery has partnered with Eté 1981 for the exclusive release of a line of wallpaper featuring hedonistic and lush patterns.
Very easy to install, available in strips 2.50 m high x 50 cm wide.
How to install it?
1/ Prepare the paste and the strips
Mix the paste in the bucket: it is essential to let it rest, or even prepare it the day before.
Choose a standard wallpaper paste.
While pasting and hanging, keep a bucket of clean water and a sponge nearby to remove glue marks, clean the wallpaper roller, or wash your hands.
2/ Then measure the height of the wall to cut the strip to the right dimensions.
If you order one strip: you will be sent a strip 2.50m high x 50 cm wide.
If you order several strips: they will be sent to you in a single roll.
Cut the strip with scissors.
It can also be cut with a utility knife and a ruler.
It is preferable to cut the strips as you go rather than all at once to avoid mistakes.
To orient yourself easily, take measurements with your tape measure and make marks on the wall with a pencil. Delphine Cauly's wallpapers have been specially designed so that the patterns are easy to align.
3/ Pasting
Lay the strips on a table, pattern side down.
To prepare the paste, follow the manufacturer's instructions to obtain the correct consistency. Let the paste rest for about 10 minutes before using it.
Using a brush, apply paste to one good half of the strip, from the center towards the edges. Pay extra attention to the edges. Fold the pasted part onto itself without creasing the fold.
Then do the same for the other half of the strip, from the center towards the edges.
Allow the strip to soak for 5 to 10 minutes.
4/ Hanging the strips
Hang the first strip at the top of the wall, aligning it with your vertical guide.
Let about 2.5 cm of wallpaper overlap at the ceiling.
Then unfold the strip down to the baseboard.
Check the positioning of the strip, adjust if necessary, and then smooth it out.
5/ Cutting the edges
Use a wide spatula and a utility knife to cut the excess wallpaper at the top and bottom.
Position the smoothing spatula perpendicular to the paper and cut with the utility knife. Then wipe off any excess paste.
6/ Hanging the other strips
Repeat the operation, taking care to align the patterns carefully.
Good to know:
Prepare the wall before hanging wallpaper:
- Remove old wall coverings before hanging wallpaper: you must start by stripping it.
If it is paint, you can apply the wallpaper directly after washing and sanding your wall.
- Installing wallpaper requires smooth and, above all, clean walls.
Wash the walls to eliminate all traces of paste and other wallpaper residue.
Painted walls: wash with a special wall cleaner, then rinse.
On glossy or satin paint, sand with sandpaper so the paste can hold.
New or porous walls: apply a primer for plaster or a wall sealer 24 hours in advance. This protects the wall and allows the wallpaper to be removed later without damaging the wall.
- Fill holes and cracks before hanging wallpaper
Once the walls are clean and dry, fill all holes and other cracks with a special filler.
After drying, simply sand the walls to flatten the surface. Don't forget to dust everything off.
- Remove outlets and light switches before hanging wallpaper
After carefully turning off the electricity, remove the socket covers and other switches located on the part of the wall to be papered.
