Exoplanet Candle by Daniel Arsham

Artist: Daniel Arsham

Cast porcelain exoplanet, inspired by Arsham’s time at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (where the focus is on searching for the 3,500 moons or planets orbiting stars outside our solar system). It is effectively a deconstructed candle. Comprised of two planetary halves that can be stored together, the avant-garde sculpture requires its owner to insert a cotton wick into the base and fill it with a container of scented soy wax beads for use.

The design

American artist Daniel Arsham combines sculpture, drawing, architecture, and film in the design of his works. He imagines futuristic pieces that trace the history of our present. In this way, he adds crystals to fragments of his works to give them a precious and invaluable appearance. Our history and its vestiges are therefore a source of inspiration and richness in his eyes. The materials he uses support his concept: sand, selenite, and volcanic ash are worked to appear ancient.
Daniel Arsham currently maintains numerous partnerships with luxury brands, such as his latest collaboration with Dior.
