Brushed stainless steel is maintained with a simple damp cloth; a special stainless steel cleaner can be used if necessary. Alcohol, bleach, thinners, and chlorinated detergents should be avoided, as they discolor or corrode the surface, as should scouring powder and abrasives, which would alter the brushed finish.
