The system is based on the principle of vertical stacking: the elements simply fit on top of one another in a stable way to form a small storage unit. Its round shape and compact size allow it to move from room to room, serving as a bedside table, a bathroom trolley, or office storage.
Componibili is available in a wide range of colors, from white and black to vibrant shades and metallic finishes.

Anna Castelli Ferrieri
Architecte milanaise diplômée du Politecnico en 1943, Anna Castelli Ferrieri cofonde Kartell en 1949 et en devient la directrice artistique de 1976 à 1987, contribuant à faire du plastique un matériau de design. La boutique propose les Componibili qu'elle dessine en 1969, en versions ronde et carrée, de 2 à 4 modules.
La maison
Kartell
Kartell est fondée en 1949 par Giulio Castelli et fabrique d'abord des accessoires automobiles. La maison fait entrer le plastique dans l'intérieur domestique et rend les objets du quotidien pratiques et colorés, notamment grâce au travail de l'architecte et designer Anna Castelli Ferrieri. En 1988, Claudio Luti, gendre du fondateur, reprend l'entreprise et fait appel à Philippe Starck, auteur de la chaise Louis Ghost, Ron Arad, Antonio Citterio, Patricia Urquiola ou Mario Bellini. Kartell indique avoir été, en 1999, la première entreprise au monde à produire du mobilier en polycarbonate. Son siège est à Noviglio, près de Milan.
