Chaise Traverse
La chaise Traverse est le module de base de la collection dessinée par Erwan Bouroullec pour HAY : une assise à lattes de frêne thermotraité posée sur un cadre en aluminium moulé sous pression, pensée pour accompagner la table Traverse dans un repas en extérieur.
Un frêne, un aluminium
Chaise : dossier/assise en frêne massif thermotraité huilé, structure en aluminium moulé sous pression — « die-cast aluminium frame with slatted seat in heat-treated ash », selon la fiche HAY.
Le frêne thermotraité, pensé pour l'extérieur
Traverse associe une structure en aluminium moulé sous pression à des lattes de frêne massif traité thermiquement puis huilé. Rolf Hay, cofondateur de la maison, explique ce choix : « Teak wood and other rainforest woods are excellent for outdoor use, but it is not necessarily a responsible material choice. Believe it or not, this is actually ash wood, which normally has a lighter colour, but by heating it, it turns brown, drawing out weatherproof qualities and allowing the furniture to better withstand the outdoors. » Erwan Bouroullec décrit le vieillissement de la collection : « You could leave it anywhere and it will age very nicely – Traverse will enjoy the rain and the sun, and step by step it will start to melt into the space. »
Traverse se livre en kit, à monter soi-même : « Traverse is meant to be built by the person who is acquiring it; people will create an emotional link to the object that they produce, and later, use », selon Bouroullec. Rolf Hay ajoute, sur le prix de la collection : « In the end, we have relatively expensive materials here. But by producing efficiently, we can keep the range democratically priced. »

Erwan Bouroullec est un designer et artiste français installé à Paris, formé à l'École nationale supérieure des arts de Cergy. Il codirige avec son frère Ronan le Bouroullec Studio, un duo qui a, selon HAY, « transformé l'industrie du design » ; leur travail international couvre le mobilier, l'architecture et les œuvres d'art, avec « une approche techniquement réfléchie pour créer des designs flexibles et fonctionnels ». Pour HAY, Erwan Bouroullec a dessiné la collection Traverse, lancée en 2025.

HAY est un éditeur de design danois fondé en 2002 par Rolf et Mette Hay. La maison s'est donné pour objet de rendre le design accessible, en travaillant avec des designers contemporains sur des pièces simples et fonctionnelles, dans la filiation du design scandinave des années 1950 et 1960. Depuis 2018, l'américain Herman Miller — aujourd'hui MillerKnoll — en est l'actionnaire majoritaire.

EXCHANGES AND RETURNS
The customer has a period of fourteen days to exercise his right of withdrawal and return at his own expense the products which do not give him satisfaction in accordance with article L.121-20 of the Consumer Code ,
The products must be returned in their original packaging, in resalable condition.
Any product returned damaged will not be refunded.
PLEASE NOTE: any "personalized" product (choice of fabric, color of wood, custom dimensions, etc.) cannot be refunded: the product is not in stock and is specially made by the manufacturer to the customer.
