The base is made of ribbed steel reinforcing bars, typically used in construction for pouring reinforced concrete. The steel has a contemporary colored finish. The raw, industrial aesthetic of the rebar contrasts with the noble and elegant appearance of the marble tabletop.

Sylvain Willenz
Sylvain Willenz est un designer installé à Bruxelles, diplômé en 2003 du master Design Products du Royal College of Art de Londres. Il fonde son studio bruxellois en 2004 et reçoit en 2009 le titre de Designer belge de l'année. Son travail a également été distingué par plusieurs iF Awards et un Red Dot Best of the Best, et il enseigne à l'ECAL et à La Cambre. Pour HAY, il dessine les tables Rebar et la table basse Pyro.
La maison
Hay
HAY est un éditeur de design danois fondé à Copenhague en 2002 par Rolf et Mette Hay. Les deux fondateurs en assurent toujours la direction artistique, Rolf pour le mobilier, Mette pour les accessoires. La maison travaille avec des designers contemporains comme Ronan et Erwan Bouroullec, auteurs de la collection d'extérieur Palissade, Stefan Diez, Hee Welling, créateur de la série About A Chair, ou Louise Campbell, dont la Prince Chair de 2002 est entrée au MoMA. Depuis 2019, l'américain Herman Miller, aujourd'hui MillerKnoll, en est l'actionnaire majoritaire.
