Description

Piero Lissoni reduces the ceiling light to its simplest expression: a disc of mouth-blown, acid-etched opaline glass, mounted on a white galvanized steel base. The multi-layered glass completely masks the five light sources, allowing only a steady, white light to pass through without any bright spots; an internal reflector bounces any light that would head toward the base back into the room. Button can be installed on the ceiling or the wall, in an entryway, hallway, or bedroom. Listed as Button HL in the Flos catalog.

Piero Lissoni

Piero Lissoni, né en 1956 à Seregno, en Lombardie, est un architecte et designer italien. Après des débuts comme designer pour Molteni et Lema, il fonde en 1986 à Milan, avec Nicoletta Canesi, l'agence aujourd'hui appelée Lissoni & Partners, qui mêle architecture, intérieurs, produit et graphisme. Il est directeur artistique de Boffi, Living Divani, Lema, Porro ou B&B Italia, et signe des hôtels comme le Conservatorium à Amsterdam. Il reçoit le Compasso d'Oro en 2014, puis un Compasso d'Oro pour l'ensemble de sa carrière en 2024. Pour Kartell, il dessine notamment les tables d'appoint Thierry, et pour Flos l'applique d'extérieur Camouflage.

La maison

Flos

Flos est fondée en 1962 à Merano par Dino Gavina et Cesare Cassina, avec Arturo Eisenkeil, qui importe des États-Unis une résine plastique projetée, le « cocoon ». Son nom, du latin « fleur », est choisi par Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. Dès 1962, Achille et Pier Giacomo Castiglioni dessinent pour la maison le lampadaire Arco, la lampe Taccia et le lampadaire Toio, avant que Tobia et Afra Scarpa ne rejoignent l'aventure. À partir de 1963, Sergio Gandini dirige l'entreprise, installée à Brescia.
